Ben Ruhi Bey Nasılım sets Edip Cansever’s poem of the same name for mixed choir. The poem unfolds like an inner monologue: the repeated “ben ruhi bey nasılım” becomes both a question and a self-examination. The women of a past life — some loved, some not — have all “passed on”; what remains is the silence within.
The musical language carries this silence and self-talk within the choral texture. Lines sometimes converge, sometimes disperse; the repetitions suggest both an obsession and a ritual. This inner monologue, continuing without looking in mirrors, without watering the flowers, without going out into the street, becomes a shared voice in the choir — a collective echo of individual solitude.
The work is dedicated to the MÜZED Muammer Sun Choir and its conductor Atilla Çağdaş Değer.
ben ruhi bey nasılım şöyle bir oturup düşündüm de kadınlar geçmiş hayatımdan bazılarını sevdim bazılarını sevmedim ama hepsi de geçip gittiler işte şimdi içimde bir sessizlik var... ben ruhi bey nasılım kendi kendime konuşuyorum işte aynalara bakmadan çiçekleri sulamadan sokağa çıkmadan...
