3 Polimetrik Etüd, piyano için yazılmış üç etüttür. Her biri farklı bir polimetrik fikir etrafında döner: katmanların birbirine göre kayması, çarpışması ve dağılması.
I – Scission (Yarılma)
Açılış etüdü, tek bir dokunun ikiye ayrılmasıyla ilerler. Ritimler ve vurgular birbirinden kopar; eller, aynı anda hem birlikte hem karşıt hareket eder. Yarılma, bir kırılma anı değil, sürekli bir durumdur.
II – Inerzio (Atalet)
Orta etüd, hareketsizliğin içindeki gizli hareketi araştırır. Figürler yavaşlar, ağırlaşır, neredeyse durur; ama yüzeyin altında küçük kaymalar ve gecikmeler sürer. Atalet burada boşluk değil, dirençtir.
III – Disgregazione (Dağılma)
Son etüd, malzemeyi parçalara ayırır. Motifler dağılır, ritmik birimler çözülür, doku incelir. Eser, birleşmenin değil, dağılmanın estetiğiyle kapanır.
3 Polymetric Etudes are three etudes for piano. Each revolves around a different polymetric idea: the shifting, colliding and dissolving of layers against one another.
I – Scission
The opening etude proceeds from the splitting of a single texture into two. Rhythms and accents pull apart; the hands move at once together and against each other. Scission is not a moment of break, but a continuous state.
II – Inerzio (Inertia)
The middle etude explores the hidden motion within stillness. Figures slow, grow heavy, almost stop; yet beneath the surface small slips and delays continue. Here inertia is not emptiness, but resistance.
III – Disgregazione (Disintegration)
The final etude breaks the material into pieces. Motifs disperse, rhythmic units dissolve, the texture thins. The set closes with the aesthetic of disintegration rather than of unity.
