Sonata No. 2 for piano is in a single movement. A heavy introduction, a sonata allegro and a coda are joined in one breath; the form flows as an uninterrupted process.
The opening is slow and dense. The sound does not yet fully open; shadows, low registers and long resonances establish a threshold. Beyond that threshold the allegro space begins: themes are presented, fragmented in the development, and return under another light in the recapitulation. Energy rises, textures densify, then dissolve.
The coda is not a summary but a withdrawal. Echoes of the earlier material fade and recede. The work closes in a stillness similar to that of the beginning — yet it is no longer the same stillness.
